5 issues teacher unions gave 31st Dec.2022 ultimatum.

The three major teacher unions in Ghana (GNAT NAGRAT and CCTGH) have written officially to the Ghana Education Service and the government reminding them of five grievances that are affecting the Ghanaian Teacher today which need to be settled before 31st December 2022.

The Three major teacher unions wish to remind the Ghana Education Service of the following five issues that are affecting teachers.

• payment of professional development allowance. The unions however noted that they wrote on the 12th of September 2022 to remind GES of the payment of the professional development allowance and today 27th of September 2022, the unions want the allowance to be paid before the 31st first December 2022.

• The unions also reminded GES that they want the payment of allowance to teachers leaving in deprived areas to be completed before the end of this year.

• Promotions to Directors I & II. GNAT wants Promotions for directors I & II to be based on qualification and teachers should be put on the rightful scale.

• Promotions of junior ranks. The unions have expressed their dissatisfaction with the way management is carrying out Promotions on junior ranks and want management to work on the Promotion of junior ranks before the end of this year.

NTC continuous professional development points. The teacher unions said has been too many NTC service provider who has flooded the service extorting monies from the teachers and they want NTC to put a stop to that by sanitizing the service providers.
