The National teaching Council is mandatory by the Educational Regulatory Board Act 2020 (act 1024) to improve the professional standing and status of Teachers and to ensure the licensing and registration of Teachers in the country.
The purpose of the licensing examination is to enable qualified teachers to acquire professional license and to prepare them to meet the demand of the National Teachers Standard of possession the minimum knowledge, skills, values and attitude necessary to delivery effectively in schools.
Eligiblity for the Licensing examination
1. All prospective candidates who holds diploma in basic education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (B.ed) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or M.ed and wish to be employed as a teacher the candidate have to apply on the NTC website. exams.ntc.gov.gh and complete the form for the licences examination.
2. All the above mentioned candidates who completed in 2020 or before qualified to write the examination at the centre of their choice.
3. Candidates who wrote the Ghana Teachers licensure examination but were not successful in one of the papers may register to re-sit.
4. Fees for registration
i. Fresh students are required to pay Gh¢280.00 to register for the examination.
ii. Candidates who are re-siting are to pay Gh¢150.00 for one re-sit paper.
iii. Candidates who are re-siting all two papers are to pay Gh¢250.00
iv. Candidates who are re-siting all three papers are to pay Gh¢280.00
Payment can be made at any branch of GCB Bank limited and Prudential bank limited nationwide.
The candidate must notify the bank as fresh students, re-sit paper one or two or three
How to apply
i.Take pin and serial number from the bank after payment
ii. Log onto exams.ntc.gov.gh
iii.enter your e-voucher pin and serial number
iv. Fill in the form as the need and remember to upload your passport size photograph
Note. NTC will not accept the request to change of passport photograph after the examination

5. Candidates should keep their pin and serial number secure after registration of the licensure examination for further use after the examination
Completed application form should be received online not more than 14th April 2021
NB. There will be no extension of registration beyond 14th April 2021 deadline
