The Honourable Member of Parliament for Tamale North Honourable, Alhassan Suhuyini has stated that the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) that is demanded by the teacher unions in Education is long overdue.

According to Suhuyini, the demand for (COLA) by GNAT, NAGRAT, CCTGH, and TEWU is necessary looking at the current economic hardship in the country.

Speaking on Am Show on Joynew on Thursday 7th July 2022, the Honourable Member of Tamale North said every day the price of goods and services keep on escalating meanwhile their salaries are stable hence the demand for COLA to cushion the workers.

Honorable Suhuyini, therefore, called on the government to listen to the demand of the teacher unions that have gone on strike on the 4th of July 2022.

It is long overdue. The cost of living allowance, known as ‘COLA’, must be given because clearly, the cost of living has just gone out of everybody’s control; and they deserve it. Government must find a way”, he said.
