The president of the Republic of Ghana H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has promised to resolve all outstanding issues that have been raised by some sections of teachers concerning the one teacher one laptop initiative.

Some categories of teachers have raised some concerns concerning the distribution of laptops to teachers in a cost-sharing process to the extent the matter was taken to court for redress.

But speaking at the 6th Quadrennial and 53rd National Delegate conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo promise that those concerns raised will be resolved amicably.

“I am glad to hear how much you welcomed the supply of the laptops. I promise you that the other related matters of concern will be addressed. The relationship between GNAT and my government is a matter of concern to me, and I will do my very best to promote such a relationship.” the president stated.

At the beginning of the last year 2021, the Government facilitated the distribution of laptops to the three major Teacher unions in the country ( Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT, National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, and Coalition of Concern Teachers Ghana CCTGH) in a cost-sharing process.

Some Aggrieved teacher unions, the Innovative Teachers union, and All Alliance Teachers Ghana including some members of the larger unions rejected the one-teacher one laptop initiative because of a change in the price of the laptops and lack of transparency.

The management of the Ghana Education Service stated that they were working closely with the three major teacher unions to ensure that each teacher owns the laptop which was to be produced by KA Technology.
