The Management of the National Labour Commission (NLC) has asked the government to meet the leadership of the teacher unions in Education immediately.
According to the NLC, the ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service Fair Wages and Salaries Commission Ghana Tertiary Education Commission should meet at the negotiation table with the striking teacher unions immediately over the strike action that started yesterday Monday 4th July 2022 for 20% COLA.
The NLC further stated that the above-mentioned teacher unions organized a joint press conference on the 4th of July 2022 to declare a strike action with immediate effect upon the government’s refusal to grant them a 20% Cost Of Living Allowance.
The NLC in a statement to the above-mentioned Government institution said that ” you are hereby requested to meet the leadership of the teacher unions in Education upon receipt of this correspondent to negotiate the settlement of their grievances within 7 days and furnished the commission with a report upon completion.
