Fight for promotion & upgrading of Teachers rather than Provident Fund- Teachers to GNAT

By | June 22, 2021

Teachers who are members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers called on the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers to fight for major issues affecting Teachers now rather than fighting over the Change of name of the Provident Fund.

Some of the teachers feel that they have been cheated for too long which their union leaders are not fighting over such delicate tissues like the refusal of GES to promote teachers who qualify for the promotion, the failure of GES to upgrade Teachers who have gone for further studies and the failure of government to increase salaries of Teachers.

This comes after the leaders of the Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT yesterday 21st June 2021 filed an application of interlocutory injunction at the Accra High Court against the Board of Trustees of the GNAT Provident Fund.

GNAT wanted the court to place an injunction against the Board of Trustees from organizing the meeting that was scheduled for 23rd June 2021.

Some teachers felt the fight over the change of the name of the Provident Fund is unnecessary and therefore call on their union leaders to fight over more important issues like the delayed promotion of Teachers, failure of GES to upgrade Teachers, and salaries increments which are the major concern of Teachers now.
