Instructional objectives are the targets that you the teacher wish to achieve at end of your lesson delivery within a specific time frame. As a teacher, your aim of delivering a successful lesson solely depends on your instructional objectives. These guidelines are outlined below.

Instructional objectives should be constructed in behavioral terms. When stating your instructional objectives makes sure it is stated in action verbs in the sense that it can be measured and achieve within a specific time. Do not state instructional objective that cannot be measure, for instance, stating objectives like this, students will be able to state the effects of water pollution is not measurable because are you sure all your students will be able to state all the effects of water pollution but when you state instructional objectives like this, by the end of the lesson students will be able to state three effects of water pollution, this objective is measurable.

Instructional objectives must state the behaviors that you want your learners to display or exhibit at the end of the study. You must make sure you indicate the behavior you want your learners to demonstrate. If It is reading that you want your learners to learn let it be specified, whatever behaviors or traits you want them to learn, you must indicate in your instructional objectives.

Your instructional objectives should also indicate the condition under which you want your learners to display the behaviors they have learned, it can be a time condition under which you want them to complete a given task under what they have learned. If you want your learners to answer a question within a thirty- or forty-minute time you must include it in your instructional objectives and state clearly the time you want your learners to demonstrate that concept.
