Four Undergraduate Students Awarded Full Scholarship

Four undergraduate students have each been awarded full scholarship covering tuition and accommodation in their final year in the study of Crop Science at the University of Ghana. The students, selected on merit, are Bright Fiakeye, Emmanuel Hammond, Salaudeen Bandaana, and a top-performing female student, Sandra Akrofi.

Dr. Naalamle Amissah, Head of the Department of Crop Science, announced the awards when she chaired the inauguration of the Eric Danquah Foundation (EDF) at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI). She revealed that the EDF has identified an important niche for impacting agricultural development in the country through its flagship project, Highflyers in Plant Breeding Genetics Programme.

In his address, the founder of EDF, Professor Eric Danquah, disclosed that the foundation would discover, develop and mobilize talents in Africa for the continent’s agricultural transformation. He revealed that the scholarship beneficiaries would work closely with mentors who will infuse in them the right values, knowledge and skills to make them game-changers and history makers in modern plant breeding for agricultural transformation in Ghana.
