The Ministry of Finance has given financial clearance to the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum to enable the Ghana Education Service to recruit the 2020 batch of newly qualified trained teachers who have completed their national service.
Referring to the letter dated 28th of April 2021 from the ministry of Education to the ministry of finance seeking financial clearance to recruit teachers into the Service, the finance minister has given financial clearance for the recruitment of sixteen thousand, eight hundred and fifty (16,850) Newly qualified trained teachers.
According to a letter signed by Hon. Abena Asare Osei, the deputy finance Minister, approval has also been given for emoluments to be charged against the compensation of employees vote of the Ministry of Education in the 2022 budget.
The Director-General of Ghana Education Service is to ensure that the documents of the newly trained teachers are processed early and placed on the mechanized payroll to enable the Controller and Accountant General Department to effect payment of their salaries.
The effective date of this appointment should not be earlier than 1st December 2021, According to the ministry of finance.
The Controller and Accountant General Department are also to ensure that they affect payment of newly trained teachers and also make sure the make an appropriate deduction of the social security and income tax to SSNIT and the domestic tax division of the Ghana Revenue Authority Respectively.
