Gov’t has agreed to give Organized Labour 15% of COLA

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relation, Ministry of Finance, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, has agreed to give the Organized Labour Unions 15% of the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)

In a meeting today Thursday 14th July 2022 at the Ministry of Finance Conference room the government side and the 22 Organized Labour Unions have agreed on 15% of the Cost of Living Allowance to cushion workers from the current economic hardship.

Information disclosed to Educegh.com indicated that the government side started negotiating at 5% which the organized Labour Unions disagreed with that, then the government side further move the percentage to 7% but the organized Labour Unions again refuse the percentage then the government negotiators move to 10% and the organized Labour Unions reject it and said they needed 20% and nothing less.

But has the negotiation Continued both the government side and the 22 organized Labour Unions which were represented by 31 officials finally settled at 15%?

Following this 15% Cost of Living Allowance, the teacher unions in Education has called for their strike action that was declared on the 4th of July 2022.
