By | July 9, 2022

The National Council of Parent Teachers Association (NCPTA) has called on the government to speed up negotiation with the striking teachers now to reduce the atrocities in the schools.

According to the NCPTA in a statement, the current strike by the teacher unions in Education has brought about a lot of challenges in the schools including a reduction in contact hours for students especially those about to write their final examination, and a food crisis in schools.

The NCPTA wants the government to treat teacher unions’ strikes and subsequent strikes by teachers’ demands as emergent situations.

“The NCPTAs believes Government has the capacity and capability to resolve it and must show leadership now,” the statement said.

A statement from the Ministry of Finance stated that they had an emergency meeting with the striking teachers on Friday 8th July 2022 and the parties have agreed to meet on Tuesday 12th July 2022.
