Gov’t looking for further engagement to avoid disruption of students exams in August- Finance Minister

The Minister of Finance Honourable Ken Offori Atta has disclosed that the government is looking for further engagement with teacher unions in Education to avoid the disruption of students’ WASSCE and BECE Examination in August 2022.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Mr. Ken Offori Atta stated that the Cost of Living has gone up globally and that they need to have a forum with the teacher unions where they can all discuss and have a common language so that all parties will move on in Peace.

“There is a lot that needs to be done but I think it can be done in an environment where we all will understand each other and make sure that there is no agitation that will disrupt the very difficult journey ahead,” Ken Offori Atta said

According to him, the government is looking for further engagement with Aggrieved Teachers so that there is no disruption in the lives of the young ones who are about to write their exams the next month.

“We looking forward to further engagement that will avoid disruption of the lives of our people, for example, students who by August will be taking their exams, we will like to avoid all of these issues”. The Minister stated.

In response to when the government will grant the 20% COLA, he said “we have called for the meeting, they are drafting the communique as to when we will all meet. All of us will consider the financial implications”
