How to find the perimeter of a rhombus with examples

By | October 20, 2022

The perimeter of a rhombus is the sum of the lengths of its four sides. A rhombus is a parallelogram with equal sides. All sides of a rhombus are equal. The opposite angles of a rhombus are equal and its diagonals are the line of symmetry. The diagonals bisect each other at right angles and also bisect the opposite angles.

What is the perimeter of a rhombus?

The perimeter of a rhombus is the sum of the lengths of its four sides. Since all the lengths of the sides of a rhombus are equal we take four multiplied by the length of one of its sides. i.e perimeter of a rhombus is = 4 × lengths of one side.

How to find the perimeter of a rhombus

To find the perimeter of a rhombus, make sure the unit of measurement of the lengths of the four sides is the same. Add the lengths of the four sides of the rhombus or multiply four by the length of one of its sides. i.e perimeter of a rhombus is = |AB|+|BC|+|CD|+|AD| or 4 × lengths of one side since all the four sides of a rhombus are equal. Let’s understand better by working through some examples.

Example 1. Find the perimeter of the rhombus below

Solution

The perimeter of a rhombus is = the sum of the lengths of its four sides.

= 4 × length of one side, since all the four sides of a rhombus are equal.

= 4 × 10m

= 40m

This is pretty good, right?
