The Honourable Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has stated that the separation of the Junior High schools (JHS) from Senior High schools (SHS) was the main cause of the poor state of junior high Education we have in Ghana.

Speaking on the Joy News channel the Education minister suggested that the should be a link between Junior High school Education and senior high school.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum further explained that measures have been put in place by the government to ensure that secondary education in Ghana reflects the Cambridge Education system.

The Minister further disclosed that the government has planned to use 10 schools to pilot the Cambridge Education system in Ghana in the 2023 academic year.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is clear that when the piloting is done the standard of education in Ghana from junior high school to senior high school will be improved. He further noted that the current system which separated the lower secondary from the upper secondary is the result of the poor system in JHS but after the pilot of the new Education system the will not be a separation in JHS and SHS.

The Minister indicated that the government is on course to strengthen the lower secondary to ensure that they have similar facilities as senior high schools.
