JHS has been allowed to vacate on their scheduled date – GES

The management of the Ghana Education Service has officially announced that Junior High schools are now allowed to vacate on their scheduled date.

According to the management of the Ghana Education Service the Ministry of Education has officially asked them to allow Junior High schools to vacate on 7th December 2021, which was the official vacation date for teachers and students of the Junior High schools.

“The Ministry of Education has directed GES to allow JHS schools to vacate as per their scheduled vacation date” management of the Ghana Education Service stated.

Meanwhile, most public junior high schools in the country have already vacated on the 7th of December 2021 which was the date that management directed JHS to vacate.

Background
On Monday 6th December 2021, the management of the Ghana Education Service wrote on their Facebook page that base on the National Standardized Test which is meant for all basic 4 pupils to write on the 17th of December 2021, all basic schools vacation date has been postponed to the 17th December 2021.

This generated a lot of controversies in the media space because the calendar for Basic schools vacation was 10th and 7th December 2021 for primary and junior high schools respectively.

Most of the JHS school teachers complained of being disrespected by the Ghana Education Service because they have been in school since June 2021 and just because of Basic 4 pupils National Standardized Test JHS teachers and students should remain in school for no work done.
