Some 10 basic schools in the Wenchi municipality had received uniforms from the Wenchi Municipal Assembly through the government of Ghana and the ministry of education. About 1000 school uniforms were distributed to schools in this community.
Dr. Prince kwakye Afriyie said the distributions of the uniforms to these pupils formed part of the government agenda of distributing uniforms to students in the country.
Giving out the uniforms to the pupils Dr. Afriyie stated that the uniform is meant for pupils with tattered clothes or those whose uniform has been faded as well as those without school uniforms. He reiterated that the uniform should be given to those who need it.
He also advised the school children to learn hard to achieve their future aims. Because education is key for an individual to achieve his or her aspired goals in the future and the pupils should not play with their future but rather learn hard to achieve their educational goals.
The municipal chief executive of the municipality also advised teachers to make effort to educate the students and the public about the pandemic to reduce the spread of the virus. Because it is only public education that can help people to know about the preventive measures that can use to curb the spread of the virus.
He, however, commended teachers for their efforts they put in place in curbing the spread of the virus which he never thought they could have done. He also refutes claims about the false news circulating that the Wenchi municipality is leading in the virus cases in the Bono region. “Currently we don’t have active cases in the Wenchi municipality.” He said.
The items were received by the deputy director of administration and finance at the Wenchi municipal directorate of the Ghana education services on behalf of the beneficiaries. He commended the MCE and the municipal coordinating director for the good move.
Teachers need the motivation to improve their work, I would therefore call on your high office to initiate teachers’ motivation awards for teachers to prevent burnout and encourage excitement in the classroom, Yaw Mensah added.
