Newly trained teachers financial clearance to be out in November 2021- Finance Ministry

The case of 2020 newly trained teachers appears to be different as their recruitment has been delayed for major reasons that most of them cannot explain. In the year 2018, the government of Ghana introduced the National service for all Newly trained teachers completing from the 46 public colleges of education to do mandatory national service for one year and after that, they will be recruited by the Ghana Education Service.

This 2020 batch of newly trained teachers are now worried that the recruitment process has not started after the are done with the mandatory national service. Trying to find out the reason for delay in their posting, the Teacher Trainees’Association of Ghana TTAG has several engagement with the stakeholders involved in their posting procedures. According to Ghana Education Service the were waiting for financial clearance from the ministry of Finance.

TTAG executives engagement with the Ministry of finance on 21st October 2021 has declosed that the financial clearance for 2020 newly qualified trained teachers will be released.

According to the deputy minister of Finance, Honourable Abena Asare Osei the financial clearance for newly qualified trained teachers will be out in first quarter of November 2021.

She explained that the minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has presented a list of over 40,000 teachers to be recruited into the Ghana Education Service. She added that this list consist of both Teaching and non- teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service.

The minister asked the Newly trained teachers to exercise patience has the procedure leading to the release of their financial clearance will be completed for them to be recruited into the Ghana Education Service.
