The leadership of the Northern Regional Chapter of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT has officially issued their press conference on the impending strike action that teachers are to embark on 5th July 2022.
This has come as a result of the NEC meeting on the 17th of June 2022. The outcome of the meeting was that all Regional Chairmen should issue a press conference to press the government to pay the COLA allowance.
A scheduled date was given as to when the Regional Chairmen will be issuing their press conference. Below is the scheduled date issued by NEC.
• 21st June 2022, Ashanti and Volta regions
• 22nd June 2022, Central and Northern regions
• 23rd June 2022, western and Upper west regions
• 24th June 2022, Eastern and Brong Ahafo regions
• 28th June 2022, Greater Accra and upper east regions
According to the Northern Regional NAGRAT chairman, Mr. Abdulai Seidu Gong, the government has shown insensitivity to their plight as Teachers, and their core mandate as a union is to promote the welfare of their members. Mr. Gong said they sit unconcern for their members being suffering in pain that has no end.
He said for now they have reached their wit’s end. Hence the demand that the National leadership of the union, if by the end of June 2022 the COLA is not paid then all members will lay their tools on 5th July 2022.
