The National Council of the Ghana National Teachers Association (GNAT) has bemoaned the delayed posture of the government in the payment of teachers’ continuous professional development allowance for the 2022 academic year.
According to the National Council of GNAT at the national mandatory council meeting at Abankro, the government has demonstrated delay tactics regarding the payment of the 2022 teachers’ professional development allowance. As of 29th October 2022, there has been no indication of the payment of teachers’ continuous professional development allowance. The council stated.
The management of the GNAT council, therefore, called on the management of the Ghana Education Service to ensure that such allowances are paid to teachers before the end of December 2022.
This was part of the issues raised by management after the end of the 2022 mandatory National Council meeting held at the teacher’s village, Abankro, from 25th – 29th October 2022
Most teachers are confused as to why the teacher unions keep calling on the government to pay such allowance now when all teachers know that since the inception of teachers’ continuous professional development allowance it has always been paid once every year in November or the teacher unions leaders have sensed some fishy about the payment of 2022 teachers’ continuous professional development allowance.
