The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has disclosed that the review of pay administration of article 71 Office holders to ensure fairness in the payment of public sector workers will require a constitutional review.

Speaking on the demand of the review or scraping of the payment system of the article 71 Office holders from the Constitution the head of communication at the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission Mr. Earl Ankrah said the review committee of the single spine policy may consider such call, though it is not their core mandate.

“It is a constitutional matter and once it is, the President must set up a committee to come up with recommendations. Once the recommendations have been made, there will be ways for implementation, and it will be reviewed from the terms of referenceā€, says Earl Ankrah, the Head of Communication of the commission.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of TUC Dr. Yaw Baah said, the Trade union Congress and other Organized Labour Unions are on course to end the unfair remuneration of single spine salary structure on one hand and the article 71 Office holders on the other hand.
