Teacher Trainees’ allowance to cost gov’t GH¢400m – Finance Minister.

The Ministry of Finance has disclosed in the 2022 budget that the allocation made for the payment of teacher Trainees’ and Nursing Trainees’ allowance is GH¢401.1 million in 2022.

During the delivery of the 2022 budget in parliament on Wednesday, 17th of November 2021 the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta stated that both teacher’s and nurses’ training allowance is expected to cost the state over GH¢400 million in 2022.

According to the minister, teacher Trainees’ allowance will cost GH¢169.9 million representing 42.4 percent and that of the nursing Trainees will cost GH¢231.2 for the 2022 year representing 57.6 percent of the total amount of the GH¢401.1 million.

This directly shows that both the teacher and nursing Trainees allowance will take almost 0.3 percent of the expected expenditure in the 2022 budgetary year since the Finance ministry has budgeted to spend a total of GH¢128.3 billion for the 2022 budget year.

Meanwhile, the country has budgeted to generate an amount of GH¢89.1 billion leaving an outstanding deficit of over GH¢40 billion Ghana cedis.
