Teacher unions officially declare strike today

The leadership of the Teacher unions in Education GNAT, NAGRAT, CCTGH, and TEWU has officially released a press conference to the media on their intention to strike on Monday 4th July 2022.

According to the Teacher unions, their demand for government to grant them 20% percent Cost Of Living Allowance COLA has not yielded any positive results. The government has been adamant about the hardship Teachers are going through.

“We have been compelled under current circumstances to publicly communicate to Ghanaians on our intention to go on strike having gone passed the June 30, 2022 deadline we gave the government for the payment of Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA). Consequently, we have decided to embark on strike action, effective today Monday, 4th July 2022.” The statement said.
