Teachers in public basic schools to be audited by external auditors.

The management of the Ghana Audit service has announced and started auditing the professional, payroll, and academic qualifications of teachers in some public basic schools across the country.

According to the managrnment of the Ghana Audit Service, their external auditors have started auditing some Municipal and District Education workers in the country. Information gathered by the Educegh team shows that the external auditors will be checking on Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) Schools as well as schools that are not under the GALOP schools project.

Documents required for Schools Auditing

According to management, all headteachers in GALOP schools are to make available the under-listed documents for external auditors.
⚫ Performance contract
⚫ Cashbook
⚫ SPIP
⚫ Payment voucher
⚫ Three months payslips ( September, June, and July) ESPV for the 2021 year.
⚫ Attendance book

Documents for Auditing payroll

Management has also announced auditing the payroll of public basic schools teachers and the following documents will be required by payroll auditors which teachers are to get ready.
⚫ Appointment letter (photocopy)
⚫ Promotion letters (photocopy)
⚫ January payslip
⚫ Staff list
⚫ EPV for the previous month
⚫ Permission file
⚫ Study leave with or without pay file
⚫ Last academic qualification certificate (photocopy)
⚫ Valid National ID card

Management explained that this external auditing has commenced on the 14th of February 2022 in some Municipal and District Education offices and will end on the 11th of March 2022.

This auditing will be on Capitation Grant, GALOP schools, and payroll of Teachers in this public basic schools
