The National President of the Coalition of Concern Teachers Ghana CCTGH, Mr. King Ali Awudu has disclosed that teachers are going to pay an additional GH¢40 as interest on the one teacher one laptop initiative.
During an interview on Adom TV, Mr. King Ali Awudu the National president of CCTGH said although teachers have been deducted GH¢509 as the 30% cost of the one teacher one laptop it is not up to the amount each teacher is supposed to pay which is GH¢549. He explained that every teacher is bound to pay this money.
He noted during the interview that this GH¢40 teachers are to pay additional is interest on the one teacher one laptop initiative that teachers are paying 30% against government 70%.
Most teachers have raised allegations that the three Teacher unions GNAT, NAGRAT, and CCTGH used teachers Pension money to prefinance the production of the laptops. Mr. King Ali did not give a reason why teachers are to pay an additional GH¢40 as interest on the laptop.
Teachers are to note that they will pay an additional GH¢40 on the one teacher one laptop initiative but Educegh media team does not know exactly where and when that deduction will be taken place. Because the president of CCTGH indicated in the interview that every teacher must pay GH¢549 as 30% cost of the laptops but he did not make it clear when such deduction will be taken place on a teacher’s salary.
The majority of teachers in Ghana are against the deduction and distributions of these substandard laptops by the three Teacher unions and some of them are even calling for a demonstration against these teachers unions meanwhile the National President of the Coalition of concern teachers Ghana CCTGH Mr. King Ali Awudu is saying that teachers will still pay GH40 on top of the already deducted GH¢509 from their Professional allowance.
