The Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed that the delay in the opening of the Ghana Education Service portal for the recruitment of newly trained teachers is due to the change in the academic calendar of public basic schools.
During an interview at Silver Radio, a private Radio station in Kumasi yesterday 1st December 2021, the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said he has signed a document for the Ghana Education Service to recruit a 2020 batch of newly trained teachers.
He added that the delay in opening the Ghana Education Service recruitment portal is a result of a change in the academic calendar of the Ghana basic schools.
He explained that recruitment of newly trained teachers into Service usually happens at the beginning of an academic calendar. This is usually around September every year since the Academic calendar of public basic schools usually starts in September. Due to the change in the academic calendar of public basic schools in the country, the management of the Ghana Education Service has restructured everything to begin in January.
The Minister further explained that his Ministry and the Ghana Education Service is making plans to recruit graduate from private colleges of education. The minister made emphasizes to the graduate from Jackson College of education.
