The Auditor-General demanded the sanctioning of the principal of Sefwi Wiawso college of education due to mismanagement of public funds. According to the African Education Watch the principal of Sefwi Wiawso college awarded a contract worth GH¢269,778.99 to Bert. B ventures for the supply of goods and services by handpicking the supplier contrary to the S.40 of the public procurement Act 2003, (Act, 663) as amended.
The Auditor-General has identified over GHC 180 million unaccounted for through various irregularities, including cash, payroll, and contracts mismanagement under the Ministry of Education in 2019.
“In doubt, that money can build 400 basic schools for 160,000 poor children in communities with schools under trees.” African Education Watch stated.
Due to this the Auditor General report demanding this principal be sanctioned for the misappropriation of public funds.
“A-G recommend that the principal should be sanctioned in accordance to section 92 of the public procurement Act 2003, (Act 663) as amended by section 51 of Act 914.
