The structure and scheme of Examination for the first-ever National Standardized Test will be written in all public basic schools across the country on 17th December 2021.
Following the official announcement of the Ghana Education Service yesterday 6th December 2021, management has officially released the structure and scheme of Examination for the National Standardized Test that will be written on the 17th of December 2021. This is an official guide to all teachers handling the Basic 4 pupils on how to prepare for the National Standardized Examination.
According to management the subjects to be written in the coming Examination in English Language and Mathematics. Management is aimed at testing the proficiency level of these pupils in English Language and Mathematics.
The Structure and Scheme of the National Standardized Examination
English Language
According to the management of the Ghana Education Service, the English language paper will consist of 35 multiple choice questions, which are to be answered in one hour 15 minutes. The English Language paper will be made up of 4 sections: Grammar, writing, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension.
Section A: Listening comprehension
In section A of the English Language paper which is listening comprehension, a passage will be read out to the testees and after which the testees will be expected to answer all the 8 questions under it.
Section B: Reading comprehension
Section B of the paper will consist of 13 questions that will cover all the various strands of Reading comprehension in the English Language curriculum.
Section C: Grammar
The Grammar aspects of the paper are made of 11 questions, which will cover all the various Grammar sections in the English Language curriculum.
Section D: writing
This section of the paper will consist of 3 questions that will cover the various strands in the writing section of the English Language curriculum.
Structure and scheme of Examination for Mathematics
The mathematics test of the National Standardized Test will consist of 35 multiple choice questions which the testees are expected to answer in one hour 15 minutes. The questions will be selected from the entire curriculum of the primary four curricula. The questions will be selected in the four domains of the primary four curricula as follows:
Number – 6 questions
Data – 7 questions
Geometry and measurement – 10 questions
Algebra – 12
