The management of the three major teacher unions (GNAT, NAGRAT and CCTGH) has officially insisted on government payment of allowance to teachers leaving in deprived areas based on percentages of the monthly gross salary of Teachers.

According to the management of the three major teacher unions, they want the committee working on the payment of allowance to teachers leaving in deprived communities to be completed immediately and payment effected before 31st December 2022.
According to the teacher unions in Education, the Ghana Education Service has signed against the provision of the 2009 collective agreement between the GES and the teacher unions in Education Service, which enjoin the GES in section 18.3 to pay allowance to teachers posted to areas considered as deprived.
Management of the Teacher unions also noted that the collective agreement was renewed in 2020 with the promise that the allowance will be paid.
Based on this management of the three major teacher unions wanted the allowance to be paid before 31st December 2022.
