The president of the Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT, Madam Philipa Larson has expressed disappointment about the absence of the president of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the Teachers day celebration that was organized yesterday 5th of October 2021.

Speaking at the event yesterday, at Eusbet Hotel in Sunyani, the president of GNAT said Teachers love the president of Ghana and they are working hard to achieve his policies but the absence of Nana Addo and his vice president on the day set aside to celebrate these hard-working Teachers has made her and the other members of the Teacher unions to be unhappy.

Some teachers have condemned the absence of pres. Nana Addo and his vice president on Teachers day celebration. Some of them begin to question whether the day is not worth celebrating. Because farmer’s days are always set as holidays every year for all public sector workers of which Teachers are part of such holiday but when it comes to Teachers days even the Teachers themselves will be in the classroom Teaching whiles they are celebrating them.

Teachers are calling on the government to make that day a special day for Teachers if something will not be given to them but they should be allowed to celebrate that day in their homes and not labor for that day too.
